Development and Marketing Intern

Reports to: Executive Director & Co-Producer, Artistic Director & Executive Producer, Development Coordinator & Associate Producer, Senior Staff

Works with: Executive Director, Development Coordinator, Marketing Manager, Donors, Members, Patrons, Season Artists, Senior Staff, Fellow Interns

Focused Responsibilities: Grant research and writing, donor and member relations and management, press releases, copy editing, and event planning

Core Skills Required: Excellent writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented, efficient multi-tasking, strong organization and time management skills

The Development and Marketing Intern works closely with Development and Marketing staff members (Executive Director & Co-Producer, Development Coordinator, and Marketing Manager). The successful candidate will play an integral role in the coordination of summer fundraising appeals, donor and member communication and outreach, grant writing and research, and Yard database management. This position is responsible for assisting with logistics of various Yard events, including: personal outreach to members and donors, handling of RSVPs, audience tracking, and more. This position works directly with The Yard’s Marketing Manager and Artistic Director/Executive Producer on all press releases for the Summer Season and is involved on a weekly basis in the copy editing of marketing materials. This person also has primary responsibility of maintaining an archival press binder.

Candidates should demonstrate strong writing and research capabilities, as well as a flexible, team-oriented, and positive attitude. Candidates must be capable of managing multiple projects concurrently and of handling sensitive donor-related, grant-related, and confidential information.  Proficiency in Word, Excel, and internet research is required. Experience with ArtsPeople, FileMaker, and/or other database systems encouraged.

The Development Intern is also responsible for aiding senior staff with daily operations and any general tasks required, not specific to Development and Marketing.
