Under supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor), the Research Data Analyst (RDA) I/II position performs research, data gathering, geospatial analysis, and statistical work related to sea level rise vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning to increase the resilience of the Bay Area to rising sea levels and other interconnected hazards in the Adapting to Rising Tides Program (ART).
 
In this position, the RDA I/II may perform research and analysis related to the following topics: social equity, shoreline sea level rise adaptation, ecosystem management, resource conservation, community and economic development, transportation and land use, and public use and enjoyment of the Bay. Work may include research, data development and analysis, policy analysis, web development, technical and persuasive writing, presenting to groups, and managing elements of projects. This position also supports the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor), ART staff, or other staff in the agency by providing graphic support and mapping assistance to support project reports, analyses, and presentations. Finally, the RDA I/II may provide support for updating Adapting To Rising Tides and Bay Adapt website content.

Duties will be commensurate with the level at which the position is filled.
 
The Candidate. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to research and interpret complex coastal resource, climate, demographic, and geographic information. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, take initiative, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with changing priorities are essential. The candidate should have knowledge of California land use and environmental policies and laws, be familiar with relevant trends in coastal and land use planning and policy and sea level rise vulnerability assessment and shoreline adaptation strategies and possess a background in or familiarity with resource conservation, urban and natural resource project design, environmental justice, community and economic development and/or the social, natural and political sciences. Lastly, the candidate should appreciate BCDC’s mandate to balance conservation and development of the Bay’s diverse resources. 

Salary:         Research Data Analyst I:                
Range A $3,635 - $4,130/month*
Range B $3,750 - $4,469/month*
Range C $4,496 - $5,629/month*
 
Research Data Analyst II: Range A $5,406 - $6,771/month*
