Senior IT Applications Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Senior Applications Analyst
Department: Information Technology
Reporting to: Senior IT Enterprise Applications Manager
SUMMARY
This position will provide analytical and programming support to business users in an accounting environment, typically, through all phases of a project’s life cycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, above-average database familiarity with particular emphasis on ad-hoc analysis, and excellent communication and documentation abilities. Additionally, this person will develop new solutions using Microsoft Access, Power BI, Power Automate, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Visual Studio, and other tools as needed. As a member of the Enterprise Applications team, this position will also work on projects for other departments in the company, including, Tax, Business Management, and shared services (IT, HR, Finance, Office Services).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with business users to help define business requirements for new requests or support enhancements for existing applications.
Convert project specifications applying knowledge of SQL and computer programming techniques.
Analyze, review, and alter programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
Write documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
Assist users to solve operating problems. For example, recreating steps taken by the user to locate the source of the problem and rewriting the program to correct errors.
Mentor junior team members.
Be responsible for administration, maintenance, upgrade and support activities for assigned applications.
Develop new applications, workflows, and automation using MS365 Applications (Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate), Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio and other tools as needed.
Escalate user support cases such that they are assigned and addressed on a timely basis.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
Preferred: 
Minimum 5 years experience working with Microsoft products, including MS Excel’s VBA IDE and Power Pivot, MS Access, SQL Server Management System (SSMS), Microsoft’s BI Tools (Visual Studios, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS), and Power BI.
Experience with relational databases, designing tables, queries, reports, modules, macros, and user-forms in Access, understanding table relationships, and maintaining data integrity in SSMS.
Experience in supporting the production environment of Enterprise level systems. 
 
Experience creating macros and utilizing Power Pivot to automate small data set cleanup and analysis processes.
Experience writing queries and Stored Procedures in SSMS using T-SQL and then turning those datasets into reports, dashboards and data visualizations.
Experience developing custom applications using MS365 applications (Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate) a plus.
