Director of Strategic Giving
The Director of Strategic Giving is responsible for management and expansion of the major gifts and planned giving programs; managing relationships and securing support from donors who are capable of making gifts of $25,000+ focusing on strategic multi-year principal gifts of $100,000 or more. Will manage a personal portfolio of 35-50 prospects and a team of two major gifts officers. This is a full-time, temporary position with funding through June 2024.
The individual will work with Chief Development Officer to develop and implement a plan for expanded major gift/planned giving fundraising and promote the acquisition of major and planned gifts as well significant leadership gifts ($100,000 and above) and will serve as a member of development leadership playing a key leadership role in the execution of the organization’s comprehensive campaign.
The successful candidate will be someone with a rich development background, who has had progressive and successful experience in major/planned gifts and campaign experience. The ideal candidate should have a track record of management experience and coaching orientation and commitment to mentoring major gifts officers. The individual will be able to bridge frontline fundraising techniques with the organization’s priorities and key initiatives. The candidate will have a passion for the mission and be able to translate that into relationship building activities that demonstrate success.
Bachelors degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and development experience. At least 5-7 years of management experience in development and major gifts. Experience working with high-level donors, volunteers and colleagues on collaborative activities. Experience with campaigns, planned giving and major gift solicitation. Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture a plus. Proficiency with MS Office, Google Calendar and Gmail preferred. Development database, Raisers Edge and/or Altru experience desired.
