Tax Accountant

Toplitzky&Co is seeking a motivated individual with a minimum of four years’ experience in a tax position, to serve in a key company role. This person will have an expansive remit across the myriad services we provide, including income, gift and estate tax planning, business management and consulting, tax compliance, and more. The individual will interface with clients and facilitate client planning and tax research, and it is therefore necessary for this person to have strong English language communication skills.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage tax filing deadlines to ensure timely and accurate filings, reports, and obligations for all client activities
  • Prepare and review individual, business, and fiduciary income tax returns and gift tax returns
  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates for individuals and businesses
  • Proactively develop and support clients’ business and investment planning opportunities, incorporating business and tax considerations
  • Prepare client presentations and business/financial models to facilitate business and tax planning ideas
  • Tax planning support surrounding client mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and JVs
  • Conduct tax research to create financial opportunities, resolve issues, and achieve superior outcomes for clients
  • Assist clients with the formation of new business entities
  • Coordinate with clients’ investment managers, attorneys, agents, managers, etc.
  • Oversee the coordination of the day-to-day duties of planning, accounting, tax work, and wrap-up
  • Identify and communicate tax matters to associates, partners, and clients
  • Build relationships with clients and staff
 
Educational and Other Requirements:
  • Four years’ experience in a client-service tax role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Active CPA or a desire to obtain a CPA license strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent client service skills
  • Approaches projects with a sense of urgency
  • Highly motivated and intellectually curious
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
